iPhone SE (2020) Design and Screen
When you take the iPhone SE (2020) out of the box, you’ll notice that it’s retained the iconic centre button, with large bezels to match – a look we thought Apple had put to bed forever!
This handset’s retro design is one of the many reasons why it’s so popular amongst phone users. There’s certainly no mistaking it.
The handset has a glass front and back, along with a sleek aluminium frame which feels very high-end. This model is smaller in size, too, meaning it sits comfortably in your pocket – something many users look for from their next smartphone.
Along the top, you’ll find the speaker output, and the front-facing camera looks just like the classic iPhone that we all know and love.
Sticking with the smaller design, the screen totals at 4.7 inches and the overall screen-to-body ratio is relatively low, at 65.4%. It also has a True Tone and Retina HD display. So, you’ll experience fantastic visuals, which is particularly beneficial if you plan on watching films or gaming.
When you turn over the device, you’ll see that it maintains the traditional iPhone design. It features a single, 12-megapixel pinhole camera on the top left of the housing and the Apple logo sits nicely in the middle. The fingerprint sensor is cleverly placed under the front display, which is great because it doesn’t take up any room on the back.
iPhone SE (2020) Audio
As you expect from Apple, the sound quality of the iPhone SE (2020) is superb. They have removed the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, but you do benefit from loudspeakers with effective stereo performance.
The handset is perfectly usable on hands-free, which is ideal for making calls and listening to music. If you want to use headphones, you’ll need to purchase a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter. Alternatively, you can switch to wireless earbuds or over the head earphones.
iPhone SE (2020) Camera
The camera for the iPhone SE (2020) is great considering the handset’s low price tag. The single rear-facing camera is 12 megapixels. Plus, the single front-facing camera is perfect for your selfie needs and comes in at a respectable seven megapixels.
Both of the cameras capture video in a wide variety of formats. You’ll also have OIS, stereo sound HDR and a LED True Tone flash to work with. The front-facing camera features face detection and panorama, too.
iPhone SE (2020) Features and Performance
Before its release, phone users were eagerly waiting to see what Apple would put under the hood of the iPhone SE (2020).
The latest edition of this handset is powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic chip. It has the same set up as the iPhone 11, making it seriously powerful for its size. As expected, the phone runs iOS 13 and presumably, this will be upgradable as and when new software is pushed out.
This spectacular smartphone comes in three different sizes, but there are no expandable storage options. You can opt for 64, 128, or 256 GB of internal storage, which provides more than enough for the average user.
The battery life is rumoured to be on par with the iPhone 8, and you’ll benefit from wireless charging, should you wish to use it. The device comes with a fast charging 18W cable, which offers a 50% charge in just 30 minutes. However, if you want to utilise wireless charging, you’ll need to buy a Qi wireless charger, as this doesn’t come in the box.
Summary
When the iPhone SE was released in 2020, it was predicted to be impressive, and it’s exactly that. Trust us, it will be flying off the shelves for years to come. It’s a cracking handset that has been designed to suit all sorts of phone users, especially those who aren’t as fond of a phablet-style phone.
